When opening a new restaurant, one of the key aspects to focus on is equipment acquisition. Without the proper kitchen and restaurant equipment, your restaurant has no legitimate chance at succeeding.
During equipment acquisition, you have two options: you can either buy it new, or you can buy it used. Both options have their upsides but buying used is a much better option for those who are shopping on a budget.
Are you interested in buying used restaurant equipment? Wondering what type of restaurant equipment can be purchased used? Read on to find out!
Refrigerators
Trying to operate a restaurant without refrigerators is generally impossible. Refrigerators are needed to cool everything from beverages, to meats, to dairy, and much, much more.
Refrigerators of all kinds can be sold used. Whether you’re looking for prep refrigerators, presentation refrigerators, storage refrigerators, or otherwise, used and discounted models are available for purchase.
Ovens
Like refrigerators, ovens are a near necessity in just about any type of restaurant. Fortunately, just as with refrigerators, ovens can be bought used, allowing you to acquire them at very reasonable prices.
There are ovens of all kinds available, from convection ovens, to microwave ovens, to pizza ovens, to conveyor ovens, and more. Ovens are fairly simple to refurbish, meaning that used ovens are almost always at the same level of quality as new ovens.
Dishwashers
Unless you’re planning on using nothing but paper and plastic cookware, you’re going to need a way to clean your kitchen equipment. While you could clean all of your items by hand, doing so would drastically slow down your operations.
Instead, it’s wise to opt for a dishwasher. As long as they haven’t been subjected to any extraordinary levels of wear and tear, used dishwashers should fare just as well as new dishwashers.
Mixers and Slicers
Regardless of what type of restaurant you run, there’s a good chance that you’re going to have to mix or slice ingredients at some point. Instead of mixing and slicing food items by hand, it’s wise to utilize an automatic mixer and an automatic slicer. These tools will allow you to prepare food at a much faster rate.
Used mixers and slicers almost always live up to the quality standards of new mixers and slicers. As long as their electrical components are still in working order, they should get the job done with ease.
Countertops and Bars
When buying non-electrical items, there’s no legitimately good reason not to buy them used. As long as these used items are solid and still capable of getting the job done, they make for great bargain buys.
By investing in used countertops and bars instead of new countertops and bars, you can save quite a bit of money. This is money which can either be saved, or put toward other pressing matters, relieving some of the financial strain which comes with starting a new restaurant.
Sinks
In restaurants, sinks are needed for just about everything. From food preparation, to hand washing, to dish washing, sinks are a vital cog in the restaurant kitchen. In essence, your restaurant is going to need sinks.
However, unless you have a lot of money to spend, it makes sense to buy your sinks used. There’s usually nothing that a new sink can do that a used sink can’t do just as well.
